Top 10 Environmentally friendly Oil & Wax Finishes

Updated: Jan 31, 2018

Finding the right oil and wax combo to treat your timber can be difficult - if your criteria is not to use any nasty chemical compounds with high VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds). This translates as stinky air pollutants that can damage your health.

If like us you are keen to keep things green then there are a few brands out there that do the trick:

osmouk.com/

[Auro] organicnaturalpaint.co.uk

nutshellpaints.co.uk/

biofapaint.co.uk/

livos.de/en/

naturalpaintsonline.co.uk/

ecospaints.net/

celticsustainables.co.uk/

lakelandpaints.co.uk/

earthbornpaints.co.uk/

At thinkFOUND we use OSMO as their oils/waxes [like all of the above] are made with natural ingredients giving you major eco points, their VOC rating is one of the lowest on the market.

Though the oils and waxes they produce are a little on the expensive side, this is the only product we use because not only is it green, it offers a durable finish and is red wine and coffee cup [stain] resistant, so say good bye to your coasters. If ever there is an accident, all you have to do is use a damp cloth to wipe away the mess and the wood will be untouched. Great hey!

For re-oiling and waxing your table we recommend Osmo Clear 3062 oil and wax all in one tin.
